Project Overview
Atlas Contracting was engaged by JSW for electrical and MEP upgrade works at their steel processing facility in JAFZA. The project involved upgrading the power distribution system to accommodate new processing equipment, along with associated piping and structural modifications.
Scope of Work
- Electrical Installations: New 2000A main distribution board, cable tray routing for 3.5 km of power and control cables, VFD installations for rolling mill motors, and earthing system upgrades
- Industrial Piping: Hydraulic piping for new press equipment, compressed air distribution extensions, and cooling water piping modifications — all in carbon steel to ASME standards
- MEP Systems: Industrial exhaust ventilation for the processing area, new lighting installation (LED high-bay), and fire detection system extensions
- Steel Structures: Fabrication and installation of equipment support frames, pipe rack extensions, and maintenance access platforms
Key Achievements
- All electrical works completed during scheduled plant shutdown windows to minimise production impact
