Project Overview
Gulf Rock engaged Atlas Contracting for the steel and structural works associated with the expansion of their quarry operations in Ras Al Khaimah. The project involved new conveyor lines, transfer tower structures, and a screening plant extension.
Scope of Work
- Conveyor Structures: Design and fabrication of 350m of conveyor gallery steelwork with support trestles at 6m centres, including transfer towers at three junction points
- Equipment Platforms: Heavy-duty platforms for new screening equipment, with vibration-isolation detailing at all connection points
- Civil Works: Piled foundations for conveyor trestles on variable terrain, equipment plinths, and access road upgrades to the new plant area
- Erection: Full site erection using mobile crane fleet, coordinated around ongoing quarry operations to minimise production downtime
Key Achievements
- All fabrication completed from shop drawings within 10 weeks
- Erection sequenced to maintain quarry production throughout the construction period
- Structures designed for future conveyor belt width upgrade without modification
- Client retained Atlas for ongoing maintenance of the conveyor structures
