Project Overview
Atlas Contracting carried out the culvert and drainage construction package for a residential infrastructure project in the Sharjah Industrial Area. The scope included precast and cast-in-situ box culverts, stormwater drainage systems, and road crossing structures.
Scope of Work
- Box Culverts: Construction of 180 linear metres of reinforced concrete box culverts (ranging from 1.5m x 1.5m to 3m x 2m sections) including wing walls and headwalls
- Drainage Network: Installation of 1.2 km of precast concrete pipe drainage (600mm to 1200mm diameter) with manholes, catch basins, and outfall structures
- Civil Works: Excavation and backfill operations, road reinstatement, kerb and channel works, and coordination with existing underground services
- Protective Coatings: Waterproof membrane application on all below-ground concrete structures and bituminous coating on buried metalwork
Key Achievements
- Culvert construction completed in 4 months despite encountering high water table conditions
- Dewatering system designed and operated without impact to adjacent properties
- All concrete works passed municipal inspection on first submission
- Road reinstatement completed to Sharjah Municipality standards
